Handmade in Kansas, one stitch at a time.
SC Trinkets exists for one simple reason: the joy of creating beautiful things and watching someone’s face light up when they discover something they truly love.
Many of the items you’ll find here are handcrafted by Su, talented family members, or fellow artisans, often requiring hours, weeks, or even months of thoughtful work. Alongside those creations, you’ll also discover a carefully selected collection of jewelry, gifts, seasonal décor, and unique treasures chosen because they reflect the style, creativity, and warmth that SC Trinkets represents.
Every item in our collection—whether handcrafted or thoughtfully selected—is here for a reason. If it carries the SC Trinkets name, it’s something Su would proudly display in her own home, give as a gift to someone she loves, or recommend to a friend.
Our mission is simple: to share beautiful things that bring joy, celebrate life’s special moments, and remind us that even the smallest treasures can become lasting memories.
Thank you for supporting a small family business and for allowing us to share a little creativity, kindness, and inspiration with you—one trinket at a time.
Behind every piece from SC Trinkets is the heart and hands of Sulayka “Su” Carter, a lifelong crafter who has spent decades turning simple materials into meaningful keepsakes.
Long before SC Trinkets became a business, crafting was simply a part of who Su is. Whether she was crocheting, knitting, sewing, creating jewelry, or spending countless hours completing intricate cross-stitch projects, she has always found joy in making things by hand. Her patience, attention to detail, and willingness to dedicate weeks—or even months—to a single project are what set her work apart.
Su’s love of crafting goes back many years. She often helped her mother-in-law at craft fairs and community events throughout northeast Kansas, learning firsthand the value of handmade gifts and the friendships that grow around them. Those experiences planted the seeds for what would eventually become SC Trinkets.
The idea finally became reality around the Carter family dining room table. After many conversations with her husband, Butch, owner of Carter Family Productions, Su decided it was time to share her creations with others instead of keeping them tucked away in boxes and closets. Together they built SC Trinkets as a family business with a simple mission:
Create beautiful, handcrafted items that bring a little joy into someone’s life.
Some of Su’s creations come together in a single afternoon. Others require weeks of careful stitching, beadwork, or assembly. Her cross-stitch pieces, in particular, can take several months to complete, with thousands upon thousands of carefully placed stitches before they are transformed into finished keepsakes.
Every item she creates is handmade with care, patience, and attention to detail. No assembly line. No shortcuts. Just one person who genuinely enjoys creating something special for someone else.
For Su, success isn’t measured by how many pieces she sells. It’s measured by the smile on someone’s face when they find something that speaks to them.
Thank you for supporting a small family business and helping keep the tradition of handmade craftsmanship alive.
From handcrafted creations to thoughtfully selected finds, every piece in our collection has been chosen because it reflects the creativity, quality, and warmth that define SC Trinkets.

Every journey has a beginning, and Su’s began many years ago.
Growing up, Su discovered a love for creating with her hands. She spent countless hours helping her parents make cast figurines while learning to sew, cross-stitch, and explore other creative crafts. Those early experiences sparked a passion that has remained with her throughout her life.
In 1983, Su married her husband, Butch, and together they have built a family that now spans six children, many grandchildren, and countless others who have lovingly called them “Mom,” “Dad,” “Nana,” or “Pappa” over the years. Throughout it all, crafting remained one of Su’s favorite ways to relax, express her creativity, and create meaningful gifts for family and friends.
Her mother-in-law, an accomplished crafter herself, regularly traveled to craft fairs and community events across northeast Kansas. She encouraged Su to keep creating, sharing not only her knowledge of crafting but also the joy of seeing handmade creations brighten someone else’s day.
Over the years, Su’s home gradually filled with finished cross-stitch pieces, jewelry, seasonal decorations, and countless other creations. Family and friends often encouraged her to sell her work, reminding her that her talent deserved to be shared rather than tucked away on shelves.
Around the Carter family dining room table, Su and Butch decided it was finally time to turn that encouragement into reality. Together they created SC Trinkets—not simply as a business, but as a way to share Su’s creativity, carefully chosen treasures, and love of handcrafted art with others.
Today, SC Trinkets continues to grow one piece at a time. Whether it’s something made by Su, created by another talented artisan, or thoughtfully selected because it reflects the style and warmth of the collection, every item is chosen with the same purpose: to bring a little beauty, joy, and inspiration into someone’s day.
Some of the most meaningful creations begin with a simple idea.
Whether you have a favorite photograph, a special memory, a meaningful quote, or just an idea in your imagination, we’ll work with you to create something that’s uniquely yours.
Custom orders may include:
Don’t worry if you don’t have every detail worked out. Sometimes all it takes is a conversation to transform an idea into something beautiful.
Every custom project begins with a conversation. Tell us what you have in mind, share photographs if you have them, or simply describe your vision. We’ll discuss design ideas, materials, pricing, and an estimated completion time before any work begins.
Whether we’re transforming a treasured photograph into a detailed cross-stitch heirloom or creating something completely original, our goal is the same—to create a piece you’ll be proud to display, give as a gift, or treasure for years to come.
Have an idea? We’d love to hear it.
Contact us through our website, send us a message on Facebook, or visit us at one of our upcoming craft shows. We look forward to bringing your ideas to life.
Every custom order is as unique as the person requesting it.
Some projects can be completed in just a few days, while others—particularly detailed cross-stitch pieces or large custom commissions—may require several weeks or even months to complete. The final timeline depends on the complexity of the project, the materials involved, and our current commission schedule.
Before work begins, we’ll discuss your project in detail and provide an estimated completion timeframe. If your order is needed for a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or other special occasion, please let us know during the planning process so we can determine whether your requested date can be accommodated.
Our goal is never to rush a project—it’s to create something you’ll be proud to own for years to come.
Every creation at SC Trinkets begins with an idea.
Some pieces are handcrafted from raw materials, while others are thoughtfully designed and assembled using carefully selected beads, glass, acrylic, metal findings, charms, fabrics, wood, and other quality crafting materials. The artistry isn’t just in the materials themselves—it’s in how they’re combined to create something unique, beautiful, and enjoyable.
We’re always happy to answer questions about the materials or techniques used in any of our creations.
Because every custom order is unique, some projects may require a deposit before work begins. Deposit requirements depend on the complexity of the project, the materials involved, and whether special-order supplies are needed.
Before any work begins, we’ll provide a written estimate outlining the project, pricing, estimated completion time, and any deposit required. Our goal is to make the process simple, transparent, and enjoyable from start to finish.
If you have questions about payment or deposits, we’re always happy to discuss them before your project begins.
